[Strong fingers clawed the wet sand as he dragged himself further on land. He grunted and groaned, coughing up the sea water he'd swallowed.
Finally he picked himself up and brushed the sand off his damp clothes to the best of his ability, grumbling all the while about being damp and gritty. His dark eyes shifted around his surroundings till they spotted a form a little off down the beach. So, naturally, he wandered on over to check it out.
Investigating paid off, he found the broken shell of the ship he'd been sailing on. He hopped up on the battered deck, jumping down through the cracked hull to find some unmarred cargo within. He managed to find some provisions and a palm device. Fortune smiled upon him as he managed to get it to work, but the battery was dangerously low. At least he could get a little use out of it.
He climbed his way out of the wreckage, pausing to tear a bit of iron plating off to munch on as he searched for a proper signal. Lo-and-behold he found something, barely there at best, but it was a signal none-the-less. He fiddled around with the thing a bit and managed to put out this message. ]

[ Too bad he didn't know his coordinates. He sat in the shade of the ship, chewing on iron and waiting for a response. With luck maybe there was a city beyond the treeline, or someone would find his signal and respond. If no one answered him, he'd start exploring on his own. ]
