Another gorgeous, special photo--seriously, travel magazines!! My grandpa had a stroke over the summer, right before I went to visit him. He didn't have surgery but he's now in a nursing home because he won't fully recover, and it was scary at the time, and I still think of him often and hope he's doing ok. I know it's hard not to be there with your family when it's an emergency but you can call or write, send positive thoughts and energy, and maybe even (says your most un"faith"ful friend) light a candle or something like that for support, which I'm sure you're doing. Let me know if you want to talk or if there's anything else I can do. Is your mom with your grandma? Will you be home for Christmas? Hummingbirds--how exciting. They're supposed to be lucky, you know. And Ruben's mother gave me a giant pink hammock the last time I visited as a gift (a total surprise; really cute). Hammocks are a genius invention that will revolutionize your apartment, haha. Love and hugs, K

Katharina, thank you for your support. I'm sorry to hear about your grampa; I hope is doing ok. My dad is going down to be with my grandma for the surgery, which will be in a few weeks, and my mom is going to take care of her post-op. My mom is actually currently taking care of her parents (the other set of grandparents) in Maryland, so she's doing a lot of nursing these days. Robin and I are staying here for Christmas and my parents are coming to visit. Wish you could, too. xoxo

Maya,
That is always the hardest part of being away for me, and the one thing that makes me second guess leaving for an extended period of time. But forfeiting the opportunity to travel is a large price. As long as she knows how you feel and you know how she feels, you're in good shape. And being surrounded by beautiful things (like amazing hummingbirds) cant hurt either.
I have you and your family in my thoughts.
Hugs,
Corin
