My spyware hint for new computers is to uninstall realplayer - which comes loaded with spyware - and then reinstall it from the BBC Realplayer Link. For licence reasons, the BBC can't put out content that has advertising or spyware on it, so (if you hunt for it), they have a link to a spyware and ad free version of Realplayer.
