I'm pretty happy with my state and county level leadership though (I think we're in the same state but wildly different counties)... I feel Arlington will come out of this one just fine.
Most of VA’s county responses are being coordinated at the state level through VDH and the regional commissions, so everywhere should be on essentially the same page with stuff being implemented based on number & concentration of infections. They saw what was happening in WA and NY and were like “nope, no thanks”.
That makes sense! I'd say that the differences among regions in Virginia are largely driven by compliance (Arlington is doing a pretty good job at following directions and not being stupid... at least after one last large night out for many on March 14!). That, and Lynchburg is a special case: the head of one of the universities there reopened the campus in open defiance of the mayor and the governor! I'm so glad I'm not in or near there right now...
Hey it's Kat. I didn't know you were still around on LJ. Thought I'd say hi, since I saw you on a friend's post. I'm not very active here, but I'd love to add you
I post like... once a month these days? When so little changes from day to day, I just don't feel like writing the way I used to. But I'd be happy to add you back!
