Now that I've had a short break, and some sustenance, I think I can go on with my tale. ( Read more... )

honestly, it sounds a sif you have a ton more focus in terms of your project than you did this tiem alst year, and as if you have every right to be terretorial about hte work you're doing. The law students can attack things from their perspective, and you and Emily, who are obviously interested in stories and efforts of individuals as well as the legal ramifications thereof, will do your thing. No irrationality there.
I'm really impresssed and proud of you, for the record. Now that I've sounded suffieiciently like your mom, I'm gonna go eat ice cream. (knew you'd approve)

No, the law students are out of our lives now regardless, I doubt they'll even make an effort. I'm more territorial about, say, Scout. Or, say, Tia coming in and thinking that the fact that Scout took a few notes for us or that Tia COULD edit our paper means they get to be co-authors. I think there's not much of a way that we can avoid bringing Scout in at this point. Since Emily already told her, as a way of bridging the gap while we were down there, that what we'd "really love" is if she'd get involved in our project and maybe be a co-author on our paper. It's just going to drive me nuts. :-/

It was great to read about all of this, part 2. The type of work you're doing is the same as what I'd like to be doing, namely, research into a thematic area.

You've clearly gotten extremely invested in the project and have every right to feel territorial, especially when you clearly care so much about it.

Don't worry, incompetence is always frustrating. You're not being irrational.
