I wonder if the Harriet Miers fiasco will turn out to have been a very smart political ploy. It would be funny if it was supposed to be a ploy (ie, get the Dems to filibuster, then nominate Alito- waaaay worse politically- and make them look bad if they try to filibuster again), but Bush forgot to tell the Senate Republicans until it was too late
