Yep, it's a verb, too. "trans. To confine, shut up, or seclude; = RECLUDE v. Also refl." First use: approx. 1400 AD (or CE, if that's your preference). Most recent use quoted in the OED was in 2004: "She had reclused herself for two weeks in her bedroom."
I also mostly just want to say that I'm happy you're still out there and always feel rejuvenated by your posts, when they happen. I agree with you on a great many things, but your thoughts are so much clearer than mine.
I'm fascinated by the first part of this post, and I hope to hear about your adventures. My attempts at making my own small jungles rarely go beyond refusing to answer my cell phone. But even that is very important to me :)
