If tyrants were the only problem there would be duels, not wars. Is it not the great masses that wage war--and support tyrants?

I disagree emphatically: the masses move in cycles dictated by the policies and doctrines offered by their leaders. Would WWII have happened if not for Hitler? Would we be in Iraq if not for Bush?

I do agree, the masses have incredible power to wield, the legacy of our liberty and democracy loving forefathers. And now-- how easily the masses seem swayed by the media, if not the charismatic leader.

Is the media perhaps the new charismatic leader?

I wish I had more people near by to discuss this with, because my head is swimming with it.
