So, I had a dream in which I was reading a really fascinating book about birds. As usual in my dreams the book was very large, almost too ( Read more... )

>Because we don't need no stinkin' logics
Really.
Я как-то по случаю откопал цитату "Hope is against the holy ghost" с переводом "Надежда пребывает в духе святом". Blasphemy Against The Holy Spirit/Ghost,

Mmm, I love the word! I'm already thinking of the ways of bringing it into the English language. Guess, the best way would be to do it via some popular author!

As for etymology, I remember being shocked to learn that "солёный" and "сладкий" ("солодкий") used to denote the same taste.

Wait, what? Yup, I'm shocked as well. Though them coming from the same root makes sense, what with "sladkij" being mainly "yummy" in a bunch of contexts. Thank you!
