The Corrections was as minutely imagined and far-reaching as a Russian novel. The book, I'll grant, dealt in platitudes, and was overly precious, but my friends, my enemies, my stalkers, my disinterested sometimes-readers, it's a novel about the Midwest. -Read: A History of Women in the West 4 volumes of delicious academic discourse on everything from the female form in art to (this was my favorite) the idea that if you have a childless marriage, it must be because your husband can't get you off (an offshoot of the idea that conception occurs when a woman orgasms).

+ I love feminist theory a LOT. I have a book of feminist theory and contemporary creative writing called "Crossing Borders" I've been reading for awhile now -- there is a Lynn Heijinian essay on identity that BLOWS MY MIND.
+ I know! It was nerve wracking at first, particularly because he brought his sisters and I brought my girlfriend, but we wound up having an excellent time and J got an A+.
+ I know. I KNOW. I wish I could say it was the last time we let Phil's brother pick the restaurant but we were naive and stupid. They played a great mashup of Galang while we were there though, which was cool, and for the record, I only drank. Oh! And ate red velvet cupcakes at dessert.
+ I miss them too! It's hard to sit in front of the computer and pontificate all day anymore. And I actually like that. But I miss blogging.
