Ugh Downton.

Knew it was coming for the past two months (thank you, fucking internet), but still: ugh.

Y'all, British period pieces are my one true love, so whyyy when one is finally popular with the general public does it have to devolve into such a mess?

Because the whole thing has been more of a soap opera from the very beginning rather than a period piece?

Yeah, I'm not a lover of the show.

Ooooh, see, I disagree. I mean I agree it has always had soapy elements, but I thought the first season was spectacularly subtle, which I loved.

Disclaimer: something with the elements of Downton is pretty much my dream television show, so I was destined to love it.
