A two-and-a-half-day weekend full of Colts, gorillas, and hippos

I never really got into watching professional football on TV before, and now I realize why: I never had a good reason to root for any particular team. Now that I have HoosierBud around, it's fun to root for the Colts in the playoffs. They only made a few Bloomingdale-Bull-variety goofs, but quickly made up for them, keeping themselves in the lead ( Read more... )

Nice Gorilla story! They did NOT always have the lines superimposed on the tv screen. Now it's amazing...how do they do that? it's the good side of technology. Superimposing ads on green screens prevents ball players from dealing with constantly changing billboards and amazing robot controlled cameras give the viewer unbelievable footage of the action. As for football, it's strange because the folks on the field (including the players, refs, and even the coaches) do NOT see that line. They have to just guess and have the guess on the field run out anytime it's "3rd and inches". I'm glad you're rooting for a winner. I was sort of rooting for San Diego or the Jets but not really attached. I'd be satisfied with any of the last 4 teams winning it at this point but don't follow football enough to have a loyalty. Sounds like you had a fun holiday weekend.

I think the Colts are the OLD Baltimore Colts, so it is sort a Maryland team, too. Poor Baltimore, but then, that is a different story. I am so happy that you are willing and able to see real good stuff like the SD Zoo. Too bad you didn't get the normal SD weather, but you played the glad game and noticed the lack of crowds. I know watching the animals provided Bud (and you) some total relaxation away from work. I read something by a smart person who said the reason people like golf is that their total concentration gets away from work.
