I'm defintely not here to flame you but here to back you 100%. My brother is a police officer and I would expect him to do exactly what the police did in that situation. I remember how mad I got at my cousin for yelling at my brother about how he as a fireman (volunteer) shouldn't use his lights in his truck while going to a fire because it is abusing his authority. I was like Hello, wouldn't you want him to use it if your house was on fire. That is their job and they are doing what is expected of them. Some people just want to place the blame on the people in charge because it makes them not have to take credit for their own actions.
The only shred of defense I have against the media was that it did say "That's when police discovered the car was reported stolen Saturday (2/24)." Which by that, it means that the officer didn't know that it was stolen until after the chase had ended. Other than that I think the Police Department should sue the mom for being a shitty parent.
true true, but they could also have that information wrong. In the police cars, it takes literally 3 seconds to check if a car is stolen. Actually, when you attempt a traffic stop, you're required to give the tag number on the car to dispatch, so it's most likely that someone knew during the pursuit that it was stolen, but they aren't allowed to confirm with the reporting agency that it was stolen until the vehicle is in custody. Plus I know that all of my officers will run the tags themselves prior to pulling over a car or if they don't have time to type and drive, they ask me to do it. I don't know about Clayton, but that's the way it works in Cobb. Beofre they hit the blue lights, they know if the car has an expired tag, no insurance. gotta love technology.
It was good to see you the other day! We should all hang out one Sunday (our common off day)
if they ok it with the family I think it's allowed. This mama was all about being on tv and blaming the police for her son's death. That's the cool thing to do nowadays
I totally agree. I'm sad for her loss, but if she should blame anyone, it should be herself. More responsible parenting would have her keeping tabs on her son. You can give your kids freedom while still knowing what they're up to. If your son thinks it's OK to drive a stolen car full of teenagers and run from the police, you've made a significant mistake somewhere. I'm pretty sure that my parents made it really clear to me not to endanger the lives of myself, friends, family, strangers, pets, etc.

I also thought the media wasn't allowed to release the names of minors involved...or does that not apply in this case?
