that was a scary thought. there have been times when we forget to turn off the stove after cooking because the fire was so small no one noticed.

I am always so paranoid that I will double check switches, stove etc before departing the house, but somehow I overlooked the iron last Sat, scary man! I will be homeless now if the unthinkable happens.

my iron has an safety feature whereby it auto shuts after 10 min if there is no movement. may be useful for you...

Perhaps I should consider buying one that has a safety feature, cannot rely just on human being ie ME who is forever so forgetful :(

I am really grateful that nothing happened, whats more the iron was on high power!

I am jotting this incident as a PERMANENT reminder to unplug (not just switch off) the iron immediately when I am done with my ironing.

unplug and pack away hehehe..but when you are rushing with thousand and one things on your mind you have to do...it is so easy to overlook the simple tasks...

I agree, so as Joann propose, maybe I should also get one with safety feature whereby it will auto shut off in x mins if not attended to.

I am very particular about how my clothes (especially my hubby's biz shirts) are being ironed. Everytime I change the part time maid, I would have to do a demonstration!

Ya, am I glad nothing happens!
