Go on give it a try, you will be glad you did it just like me. But be warned that the water is REALLY HOT, it took me a while to get used to it without hopping around and making a fool of myself ;p
My dear, the internet has a wealth of information you can rely on for your trip planning, Hokkaido even has an office in OCBC building (i think 35 fl) where you can also collect information from. Of course, I am glad to help in any little ways I can too, do drop me an email (michelle_heng@yahoo.com).
Next year CNY is on 26 & 27 Jan while the Sapporo Snow Festival is on 5-11 Feb, but the exact dates for other smaller scale snow festivals are not out yet, usually the Sounkyo Hyoubaku Matsuri will happen end of Jan to early Mar while the Otaru Yuki akari no michi is a few days from the start date of the Sapporo Snow Fest. Planning early is the key to a good trip especially when you are going in big group and have to cater to everyone's schedule. Happy planning!
