Subaru was delighted and Kamui was reluctant as they stepped off of the Vongola and onto the dock. Awaiting them at the edge of town was Karen, who promised to go shopping with the two twin vampires. The three were off to find presents for Christmas, as Subaru and Karen both planned to be generous gift givers. The jubilant boy had no clue where to begin though, and knowing that his dear twin did not either, had thought it wise to ask Karen to accompany them.
Kamui was far from delighted.
He did wish to accompany Subaru though, and knew that doing so would make his twin happy, but the actual reasons behind the outing were far from enjoyable in his own opinion. Snow fell softly around the three as Karen began to lead them into the town, past people rushing through the streets for their own shopping and their merriment of the holiday.
They passed various stores as they walked, stores which caught both Karen and Subaru’s eyes as they would stop at one every other block to glance into the chilled windows and peek at the contents within. They did this every so often to Kamui’s dismay, the violet-eyed boy taking interest in a couple of the shops they sauntered by.
“Are you going to buy anything?” Kamui asked as he glanced at Karen and Subaru from the corner of his eye as they peered into another windowpane, “Or are we just sightseeing?”
For a moment, the detached boy received no response before a soft voice replied to him, answering his question.
“You should take a look to see for yourself.” Karen spoke in a teasing voice as she smiled and motioned towards the glass that Subaru still have not taken his eyes off of as he gave a light nod in agreement, acknowledging. Kamui glanced up at the shop, immediately forcing away a smile as he then understood why it had caught his brother’s attention.
A pet shop, full of kittens, puppies, bunnies, and many more animals from what he could see.
In front of them though lay one kitten underneath a thick pine-green blanket resting upon a large, soft, cloud blue pillow.
“I think your brother wants the kitten, Kamui.” Karen giggled to the nonchalant vampire before turning to address the emerald-eyed boy. “Right, Subaru~?”
“No.” Subaru answered quietly as he turned to face his twin. “But the kitten does remind me of you, Kamui.” He gave his brother a fond smile, hands placed gently against the window. “I will only purchase it if you wish to have it.”
Kamui gave his brother a blank stare before looking away a moment. “If that’s what you want to get me, Subaru.” Subaru gives his twin another smile, elated to here the reply.
“Let us go into the shop then.”
