I'm wondering if anyone could recommend a photographer in the area, and/or a place to get flowers? We are getting married on July 5, 2009, and since it's a holiday weekend, I'd like to get a head start

Those are my photogs, they are very flexible and willing to work with your budget. They lowered my price from 1500 to 1100 because I didn't need all 8 hours with them. They may be able to lower your price as well, depending on what you want. It's worth at least contacting them, tell them Ann and Calvin sent you ;)
^ I went w/ them because of your rec. here, we just met with them for our final meetup before the wedding and I just love them to pieces! They are super sweet, totally accommodating, and, for what you get, a STEAL from what I can tell.
So, thanks to ihatebibimbap for the rec., and to the OP, I don't know if they'll fit in your budget but they are a dream!
Did you get these taken at the walker? Scott proposed to me in the sculpture garden by the cherry on spoon, so we may have to take a few pictures there!
I will also check out Hermes Floral...we are actually thinking about using artichokes in the bouquets since they have hearts, and we could eat them later on instead of just throwing them away (Ha ha...it sounds funny, but we're an odd hippy couple...) I would like to have a few simple flowers around since it is a summer wedding.
Thanks for the info, all of this was super helpful!
Thanks! That one was right before our "first look". He grabbed my hand and then before seeing me, he brought it up to kiss it. As he kissed it, the church bells started ringing. It was so romantic! There were a lot of people out that day, and we had a tiny audience. A whole crew of firemen drove by and honked. I felt like a star

I e-mailed Gina earlier asking if she has a smaller package to offer than the "tried and true" package. She is out of our price range, but if she offers a smaller package, she may be able to work for us.
We are actually limited on caterer's since we are getting married at a Synagogue, and the caterer has to be kosher. However, mexican is easy to do vegetarian, and may end up being our cuisine of choice! Artichokes, mexican food, Jewish wedding...I think our Rabbi should dress up in a kimono, and then we'd have all our bases covered =)
The photographers are wonderful! But are our of our price range =(
Everyone I know keeps recommending Colleen's Flower Cellar (I think it was mentioned twice in the responses to this entry!), so I'm taking it as a sign from the universe to converse with Colleeen and her Flower Cellar!
Engagement Session with an 8 x 10 photo Online viewing on Pictage.com On site consultation prior to wedding 2 Photographers, Kristin and an assistant Proof Book Preview CD 3: 8 x 10, 6: 5 x 7 10: 4 x 6 photos Album & Frame consultation $200 product credit Yearly portrait program membership
$1500 is still slightly out of our price range even though it does come with a lot of very nice amenities. We're aiming for $1000, and are not expecting anything to fancy schmancy.

Please take a look at my work at http://www.joylengyelphotography.com. I keep my prices affordable and flexible to fit your needs. If you like what you see, drop me an email -- I'd be happy to send you more information or set up a time to meet!
I hate the idea of spending a lot on flowers, so my plan is to buy a crap load of them the morning of the wedding at the St. Paul or Minneapolis farmers market. There's always zillions of beautiful fresh cut flowers for sale for CHEAP.
As far as photographer, I can recommend my friend Scott. He's crazy good and pretty reasonable. He's really just starting to grow his photography business, so his prices might even be negotiable (but don't quote me on that!). http://www.scottbaconphoto.com
I like the farmers market idea! I may have to borrow that one =)
I too was impressed by Scott's photos, but unfortunately when I e-mailed him, his prices were not negotiable, and even if we dropped part of the package, he was unable to reduce the price =( Sadly, he is out of our price range, and other photographers I've talked to today are much more flexible on pricing and packages they offer.
To be fair, I should mention he did offer a 10% discount that he will be offering later this year at the Wedding Extravaganza in Rochester...but that still puts him out of our price range.
