I actually read Looking Glass Wars, and I have been trying to force my way through Seeing Redd (the sequel) for a few weeks. >_< The first one was pretty good (if odd), but the second one is irritating me. The concept is great, but I'm not big on the writing style, or the fact that for some reason the characters seem kind of flat. I almost feel like he came up with the stories first, then tacked on the Alice-in-Wonderland theme to make them sell. I think I'd like them better if they weren't based on Alice, actually. I dunno. I really liked the first book, but by the second it got kind of old, if that makes sense. =P
The writing style to me seems like he tried to write a children's book but the blood and gore and adult themes just kept spilling out so he got a book that seems in limbo between adult and child. Maybe thats why the characters are so 1 dimensional. Theres just not allot of depth, but I did think it was a great concept.
