Severus Snape, ink on paper

You may (or not) know the works of Aubrey Beardsley. A perfect Potter book, as in my dreams, would have some illustrations done by him.

A professor with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin. )

snape, severus

Severus Snape is by far the most complex of all the characters and that is why he is so compelling.

HOWEVER, I agree with Rowling. He is sadistic and cruel. People who have romantic fantasies about him usually see themselves as being able to redeem him somehow, or that he might open up only to them. Yes, Alan Rickman has a goregous voice and is personally a very kind person, but Severus Snape holds grudges, plays favourites, and is perfectly capable of enjoying another's pain.

I have read the transcript of that interview several times, and it's another piece that makes me think that one of the reasons he's the way he is now -- bitter and foul -- is that he was once in love with Lily, who chose his arch rival over him and whose death he was indirectly responsible for.

I agree, as almost always ;)

It amazes me how many people like Snape. I also saw how many of them have those fantasies, but that's not canon Snape. Canon Snape is a horrible teacher and, as I see it, he favours his own house. Slytherins are probably very loyal to him, they would follow him into the fire if he asked them to. I wonder who will be the new DA teacher in book seven.

You know, we're very lucky, once all the books are published discussions like these will no longer be needed. People will just read one book after another instead of making theories in the years inbetween. There's no need to hurry book seven JK ^_^

Oh my, that's gorgeous! His whole expression is brilliant - the nose and the eye and the downturned lips. He's so elegant. ♥

:) I love his expression. Snape having light hair is both disconcerting and really quite nice.
