:) it's what I can miss the most about Belgium, the good simple old school bread, made in the traditional way: from their own recipe and baked at night so in the morning the bread will have a good crust and still be warm. *drools*

Butter will melt slightly and if you're spoiling yourself just add some dark chocolate on top of the bread. You can have this with tea or coffee. ♥

When I was in Venice I ate a ciabatta roll for breakfast each moment with fresh butter. It was heavenly.

Lucky you, what is Venice like? I love ciabatta and also focaccia with ham, vegetables or cheese. I miss Italy :(

You were here last week? Did you get a chance to enjoy our lovely weather? :c)

Next time I'm in town I'll have to check out Morlang...I haven't had a decent brownie that I haven't had to make myself in at least 4 years.

And I'm wanting to try some of that bread...I wonder if I can find something like it locally.

I *am* hungry now! LOL!

I had a great time sitting outside in the evening when it's still warm. ♥ the weather was superb! :)

I like the simple lunch in Morlang, the very typical thick slices of bread with a traditional cheese and salad, you know, the sort of food you don't realise you're missing it.

And I doubt you might find this bread anywhere, it's very rare even here. Perhaps you could bake bread yourself? Nothing better than homemade bread :D (except it takes a while)

Well, I might try to make it myself, although I'd need a recipe. That apple/cinnamon bread sounds heavenly. I agree that the very best bread is homemade, but having enough time is always a problem. It's easier to pop off to the local bakker if I'm craving a fresh loaf. They don't do anything fancy, however.

At least I can console myself with the fact that soon it will be cold enough for olliebollen and appelflappen. :c)

Oliebollen, poffertjes en pepernoten should be exported :p I love those, especially the oliebollen with raisins (krenten) are divine. This fandom should start a food exchange, there are Potter fans in the entire world :)

Thanks for the site link- I'll be going to Amsterdam myself as a trip with my art college. We have to buy our own food, so I need to find restaurants to go to.

Then you probably won't have much trouble, Amsterdam is full of nice restaurants, simple enough for every day food and often creative too. There's a good bagel bar at the other side of the street (there's a 'gracht' in the middle but it's easy to find.) if you have enough time to wait for your food, they can be slow.

Have a good time! And be careful :)
