About the books, the mystery of the Invisibility Cloak.

JK mentioned the importance of 'Why did Albus Dumbledore have James Potter's cloak?'

Feel free to help me and correct me where I'm wrong. :)

1. Why would James want to hide the cloak? Would people come to Godric's Hollow to look for it? Is it an important artefact, like a possible Horcrux? (Then why didn't Albus destroy it instead of giving it to ( Read more... )

Thats really, really interesting. I enjoyed reading that a lot.

The only thing..
"It's possible Albus didn't inform the order about Snape's work, possibly because of the leak in the order. Then why did Albus trust Snape? Could Snape have been at Godric's Hollow to keep an eye on the Potters? He knew about the prophecy and was working for both sides, he could have gotten away with it as a DE and as member of the order."

Was Snape working for the order at the point in time though? He might have been, I definitely definitely could be mistaken, but I thought that Snape proved that he was really on the good side only after he realized Voldemort went after the Potters. But then I don't know how long Voldemort waited to go after the Potters since he heard the prophecy, and if Snape had time to switch sides between then, or if he didn't switch sides until after the Potter's died.

Or was Snape the one who let Albus know Voldemort was after the Potters and that's when he switched sides? I'm confused now haha.

Now you confused me completely. I'll have to make a timetable with fact, it'll be the best way to check these things.

I'll be visiting the lexicon a lot these days ;) they have a great timetable.

Ahh this is all so confusing lol. But you're smart to do this, before Book 7 I want to put together a huge list of what we know, what we don't know, and wtf? of Harry Potter. Everything you have here seems right.

I've been working on such a list for nearly a year now, it takes a lot of time ;)

In a way I'm very happy to be able to this instead of just buying the set of books and reading one after the other.

Dumbledore questions... and my guesses. grandpalovegood September 21 2006, 05:03:56 UTC
Hey it's so good to see you talking about the books again. YAY! LOL!

Why do you think that anyone is looking for the cloak? Really they are extremely rare so I don't think the DD would want to destroy it.

I can answer the "who was there at the Potters that night." I have just made a theory that is a strong possiblility. It also gives possible answers "how DD knew to send Hagrid when the potter's were attacked by Voldemort." Also it could explain Yep all in one go, in one theory. I have it up on my LJ here. You must have missed it. I rebumped it to a newer date for you. But a warning... it's very longwinded. You know me. LOL But the main stuff is at the beginning. I only added more comments at the bottom to help relate my ideas. And then also to tell you it definately is Quibblerworthy. But I think it has a possibility too ( ... )

Ok I dont understand why there was an error on that one paragraph, but here it is again. Hopefully this will take.

Further ramblings.... Sirius had to have been the secret keeper at first. Because if Wormtail was always the secret keeper then how did DD and Hagrid know how to find the cottage at Godric's Hollow? IF Peter was always it then they would know that Sirius was not it... Peter would have been the one to tell DD the secret as well as Hagrid.

I think that "at the last moment" meant that very night. It has to be. LOL OK I'm going crazy here. LOL!

You're confusing me totally :D No, I will first write down what I can deduct from the books, then what I think to be the most realistic (canon) situation and only after that I'll read the other theories because they confuse me and make me mix facts and fiction, or rather fiction and meta.

Thanks for bumping it though, I'll have a look as soon as I have more time. :)
