The rent-a-mom gig went well. The girls behaved themselves and we had a good time besides.
I have a job interview today. I have another one tomorrow. I'm mildly shocked at how fast they came through, but it's a great relief for me as well, despite the interview jitters. -

Sally and Elliott are taking a short vacation until Wednesday. I'm being the rent-a-mom for the girls for the duration. You've all heard me talk about the fact that my current employer is up for sale. We have a buyer lined up, and they're in due diligence. The unfortunate bit is that the buyer wants two more weeks of due diligence time, and we're running out of cash to keep the doors open. We had another layoff at work yesterday.
13 people, which works out to about 20% of the company.
I still have a job. Quite a few of my friends do not.
And once again, I get to pick up the pieces and tidy up after management... -
oh, wait, it gets better.
Turns out that HR misunderstood the Dept. of Labor laws. They can't let us take the off days in any kind of useful manner. So they changed their mind today and are shutting down the company for next week instead. (*facepalm*)
At least I may have some contract DB/website work to do.... -
well, at least I'll have more time to jobhunt.
An announcement was made at work that all of us "full time" people are now down to 31 hours a week, effective immediately. Because it's a declared furlough, we actually qualify for unemployment benefits to make up the difference.

Three days in, and they've already doubled the scope of the audit.

It was a hellishly busy weekend- not a bad busy, just a busy-busy. Ethan came home and we celebrated- this is the 2/3rds mark for his first Rochester block, he'll be home full-time in 5 weeks! I can't wait ( Read more... )
