After many years of hearing you recommend this book, I finally, actually, managed to get my hands on a copy. Anyway, I will try not to go into specifics, but in case people don't want any obscure hints....

I kind of agree with you on the last two pages. It always smells a little fishy when characters come back from the dead in the "surprise ending" (see Kiss Kiss Bang Bang for a funny treatment of that). But I think my distaste for that was lessened by the fact that most of the people who died were a) very likable and b) died senselessly and for the most part unfairly. So I was able to balance that out in my head, but I do see where you're coming from....

I understand, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overreacting to the religious overtones. It's just a little too happy an ending for me to feel entirely comfortable with it. We tend to have similar tastes when it comes to this sort of thing, and the whole ending sort of took me by surprise.
