Recently, I have been trying to learn a bit more about human literature. Your species has such a wide variety of genres... so, I would like to take this opportunity to ask. What type of books do you all enjoy the most?

I believe I would belong in the one called "science fiction".

I-I'm...I-I'm not sure.

[He doesn't want to say anything on the network about it. It may invite unwanted visitors back to his door.]

Oh. Alright, it is fine. I will stop by regularly then, since you ah, did say you would like me to come by more often? Unless that is a hassle.

Take it you're none too 'normal' compared to most people?

And me, ah... I always liked those mystery kinda things, I dunno why.

Not by human standards. I am an alien, usually called a "Prawn" by humans.

Apparently many people have encountered aliens back where they came from, but... nothing like me. I am sorry, but I do not know if we have conversed before... my name is Christopher.

Literature? I like Romance stories. Not like love romance, that's just the genre names. You know, knights in shinning armor, dashing rogues, big quests ...

I... came across some of that. What about epics? Those have knights in shining armor and big quests too...

Well ... I guess. Earth epics are older ... it's an older style. We have them too, like the legends of the Knights.

Romance is a more modern style where I'm from ... I guess it's more about the drama than the action.

Drama... as in theatrics? I am terribly sorry, human literature is all very new to me. I have only been recently investigating these books on recommendation from another passenger.

Not to spy on your communications, but I have encountered something almost exactly like you before Christopher. I am thankful for the differences, though.

[She laughed lightly.]

I was just generalizing for the sake of the passenger. What race was similar to mine, if I may ask?

We call them "Space Pirates". They are similar in structure to Terra Mantises. You look very similar; four arms, one pair small. Their large arms end in blades, though, and many have bioweapons.

Humans confiscated much of my race's tech, and the great majority of the rest became tools for bartering in human crime. Very little dignity was left to my kind.

I am personally fond of science books, though history and linguistics are also rather fascinating.

[He pauses, chuckling a little himself.]

Though I probably also belong in 'science fiction'.

Yes, I share your interest in the sciences. I have not read too much into human history, though... or any history outside of my own, for that matter. Perhaps I should see to that.

It is rather fascinating, truly, if rather violent. They war with amazing frequency.

It seems the human race thrives on conflict, then. They were very concerned with fighting us too... it was why they were trying to confiscate our weapons.
