Ok, correct me if I'm wrong.....but isn't it fairly impressive that Ciarán, having only turned aged 7 on November the 8th managed to read the first Harry Potter book in a matter of 7 days?!
No, he didn't need any help at all, in fact I didn't even think he'd started to read it yet as he hadn't mentioned it to me but he came down on Friday morning and announced he was on Chapter 15, by late Saturday evening he was finished the book. I thought perhaps he'd skimmed through it but he 'reviewed' it for me yesterday and was able to tell me the whole story (and I really do mean the WHOLE story, lol, he talked about it for ages) and exactly who all the characters were etc. He's only ever seen quick clips of the movies but not the whole lot of any of them. He was given book 3 and 5 for his birthday but he has me thwarted to go and buy him the 2nd book, every day I come home he's hopping around asking me and we've been so busy at work I barely have time to take a lunch break never mind go shopping for a book......I'm tight for money now too until the start of December so I'll have to try to convince him to read the Treasure Island keepsake book my sister got him although I've seen him taken a sneaky look at the 3rd HP book.
Very impressive! Drew, who is 7.5, probably could read it but lacks the staying power to stick at a book that thick for that long. Ciaran has a great attention span which is fantastic.
WOW! I'm going to have to get TJ this book then because he's reading at a L(I have not clue what that really means in the real world) level according to his report card... hmmmmmmmmm
