I love you, duck. I knew it must be weighing on you a lot, but didn't know if you wanted to talk about it or not. It sucks, and I'm sorry :( I wish things like this didn't happen. :(
What a heartbreaking situation for your friend - I'm sure it meant a lot to him simply having someone to listen, especially someone who had experienced something similar. I'm so sorry that the situation is bringing up sad memories for you.
I haven't lost a parent or spouse to cancer - thankfully - but both my grandmother and aunt had the same type of breast cancer, and we lost my (very special and much beloved) grandmother to her 3rd bout (complicated by heart failure, which was a side effect from chemotherapy on a much earlier cancer treatment) shortly after you and Beth moved to Seattle. Having the family around to support her in her last days in the hospital was actually a really wonderful experience because I know that was what she wanted - the hard part was seeing her physically be in pain for such a long time before her passing, and I had and still have a hard time processing that.
