People can change, but they can never truly let go of their past. The past defines people and makes them who they are. It's regrettable but it's part of human nature!
That's cool! I don't agree though. People are the way they are because of their past. Should it be the case...no but it happens. Now maybe not all the time, but I think most of the time people are defined because of their past.

That may be true, past events do help people become who they are. But certain aspects of their past lives can be forgotten. And at certain crossroads in said life, those certain events need to be forgotten.
