preview of an untitled hanchul; G
Despite what everyone may think, Heechul was really a rather reserved person. He was merely loud and brash so others couldn't see so quickly how vulnerable he really was. His motto: You can't get hurt from afar; and so he stayed away.
Han Geng was actually a very bouncy personality--goofy antics were his specialty and he loved good pranks and stupid jokes just as much as the next guy. But thanks to his limited knowledge of all things Korean, he kept to himself, afraid to make a mistake, afraid to disappoint. Eventually he became known as the calm one, and he figured it was a waste of energy and time to shuffle through a Chinese-Korean dictionary to explain otherwise; and so he let it be.
Heechul was only truly open with very few people and just because you were a friend didn't make you any closer to him than a stranger. It took Jungsu knowing him for the 20 years the two of them had been alive to get out of him how he really felt. And even then it wasn't always the whole story.
Han Geng was most relaxed around his other Chinese friends, of course. They understood all the linguistic puns and long-loved culture jokes and knew what it was like to be so lost in a new world. As often as they played around, Han Geng never felt completely comfortable and lax. As the oldest he had a certain level of maturity to uphold, he had to stay strong when everyone else just wanted to go home.
Not once has Heechul cried in front of anyone that wasn't furry and four-legged or stuffed with cotton (neither has he told anyone of the several plushies he owns; he'd rather that be kept a secret, thank you). But there was something so soft-eyed and inviting about the new foreign bartender--he was Chinese, Heechul was told--that had him sobbing over an untouched, unopened bottle of imported beer long after the bar had closed, telling the nice stranger everything.
If there's one thing Han Geng's learned by being The Ge, is that you shouldn't make promises you can't keep. Henry tends to cry when he finds out no, he really can't go back to Canada for the holidays, and Zhou Mi won't smile for a week when it dawns on him that Wuhan is far too far away (a week without a smiling Zhou Mi is definitely not a good thing, mind you). But when the pale patron that Friday night started crying, choking back all his stress and worries only to lose it and sob, he didn't feel like he was lying when he promised it would be okay.
Heechul had given up on love and attraction and believing people when they promised it would be okay. But the bartender's voice was just as gentle as he expected and it warmed him from the inside out and somehow he knew that yeah, maybe it really would okay this time.
Han Geng hadn't really planned on bringing a costumer home after his shift that day, but the poor man had cried himself to sleep (he remembered catching something about 'not having slept in a few days') and wouldn't wake up no matter how hard he shook, and so that night he piggy-back Kim Heechul to his car and drove them both home.
Should I keep going with this guys? I'd really appreciate feedback♥
