MY SUPER F*CKIN' EASY NO-COOK CHOCO-NUT TRUFFLE/S
Pardon the hazy picture. I got this picture from a friend who took a shot of this truffle after I gave it to her and before she stuffed it in her mouth. I'm guessing she used a camera phone.
SO,
lost_hitsu~! It's really awesome that you're okay with nuts! Here's something you could try at home :D I should be warning you right now that this dessert could get really sweet. If you're not into too sweet stuff (like me) you could adjust the amount of sugar to suit your preferences.
INGREDIENTS
1/2 condensed milk
1/4 cup icing/powdered sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter (you could use the chunky sort for a nuttier truffle)
2 bars or chopped dark chocolate or 1/4 cup of semi-sweet chocolate chips
grated peanuts or chopped walnuts or pecans
DIRECTIONS
1. Combine the condensed milk, sugar, and peanut butter in a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly until blended.
2. Stir in the bittersweet chocolate and chill in the fridge until firm.
3. Gently shape into bite-sized balls and roll in the nuts.
4. Chill again until firm.
HOW F*CKIN' EASY WAS THAT? XDDDDD
HANDY TIPS
1. You could use other sort of chocolate, but you'll have to adjust the amount of sugar.
I sometimes stray a bit from my own recipe and mix in 1 bar of Nestle Crunch (milk chocolate with rice crispies), a bar of Meiji Black, and half a bar of Toblerone (roughly chopped). Then don't add in the powdered sugar.
The bittersweet chocolate balances out the sweetness of the condensed milk, sugar, and peanut butter. If you'd like to adjust the sweetness; just put less powdered sugar (or add more according to your preference).
2. Grating the nuts could be time-consuming; so you could just chop your nuts and roll the truffle balls on them. I personally prefer grating because it looks nicer.
It's good with a strong sort of tea or better yet, drink lots of water. :D
This thing could last for a month kept in an airtight container and kept in the fridge.
Truffles are made from ganache and you roll it into balls and coat it in cocoa powder to resemble those darn expensive 'shrooms. It's actually a really easy thing to make except the French have this habit of making simple things really unnecessarily complicated. I'm sure you have come across a luxury patisserie or confectionery store that has different sorts of truffles (and they most like prolly look the same)
--BUT THEY ARE SO FREAKIN' EXPENSIVE, WHAT THE HELL~!
So you know what, I'm not pretentious with my truffles. This is one of those things I make for Valentines' Day or Christmas and I give them to friends who I know won't mind the sugar and the calories XDDDD. I also make a sort of Aztec Truffles to give as a prank gift to people I don't like that much (y'know, cuz you could stuff that particular truffle with all sorts of dried chili peppers)
I'll post the recipe for making those truffles that you actually cook; but after the storm passes my country (it's mighty cloudy and rainy in my place right not ;_; and I can't take pictures).
