i don't understand how companies get away with this "service." apparently there needs to be more competition threatening their paychecks. we had same issue with dish network - said they'd come between 9 - 5... they didn't. we called and they said they did come. in fact they even knocked. they flat out lied. no one came. no one knocked. they went to the door guy, he wouldn't let them in. they didn't follow instruction to call us when they get here - and that's what happened. the thing that really gets me is they can charge you if you cause them to miss a scheduled appointment... i think it should be the other way round.
I had a problem with the Covad dudes saying they came and we didn't answer the door. They wanted to charge us $200 for a broken appointment.
The only problem for them is that I have CCTV cameras all around my house, so I offered to send them the video of the Covad guy pulling up, running to the door, sticking the missed appointment note on the door, running back to his car, and driving off.
They just said the installer would be there the next day at 9 AM and there would be no missed appointment charge. The installer showed up promptly at 9 AM the next day.
