DISTRICT 1 is one of the wealthier districts of Panem. Its primary industry is making luxury items for the Capitol. Some of them include diamonds and most likely other precious gems. It seems that names in this district are names of precious items, which may be a reflection on their glamorous nature and demeanor. The people of District 1 are thought to be suck-ups or lapdogs of the Capitol.
Notable people: Glimmer, Marvel, Cashmere, Gloss
DISTRICT 2 is one of the districts of Panem. It is the place where the peacekeepers are trained and where the weapons are manufactured. Publicly it's presented as the nation's stone quarries, just like District 13 was known for graphite mining. District 2 children are raised with a warrior mind-set. This district was the only one not on the side of the rebellion.
Notable people: Clove, Cato, Brutus, Enobaria, Lyme
DISTRICT 3's main industry is electronics. They specialize in televisions, automobiles, and explosives. The bread from this district is bite-sized square-shaped rolls.
Notable people: Wiress, Beetee
DISTRICT 4 is one of the 12 districts of Panem. Its industry is fishing, which is useful for tributes in the Games as they have experience in using nets and tridents, making fishhooks from scratch, swimming, and identifying edible sea life. Being one of the wealthier districts, District 4 tends to produce Career Tributes who volunteer to participate in the Games. These children are grown and raised to win the Games, making them stronger and much more capable of winning than the average tribute.
Notable people: Finnick, Annie, Mags
DISTRICT 7 is one of the districts of the nation Panem. Almost nothing is known about District 7, except that their main industry is lumber.
Notable people: Johanna, Blight
DISTRICT 8 is one of the districts of Panem. Its principal industry is the production of textiles. They have at least one factory that is primarily used for making Peacekeeper uniforms. Incomes in District 8 must be fairly low as Twill mentions that she puts in a four hour shift in a Peacekeeper Uniform factory after her full time job as a teacher. Bonnie, a child, also refrences putting in a four hour shift after she gets out of school. District 8 must be in a cold place because Twill mentions the factory she works in as cold.
Notable people: Cecelia, Woof, Bonnie, Twill
DISTRICT 10 is one of the districts of Panem. Its industry is livestock.
DISTRICT 11 is one of the poorer districts, right after District 12. Their job is agriculture- orchards and fields of grain and cotton surround the district. Almost everything they grow goes to the Capitol. It's many times larger than District 12. The people of this district are described as having dark hair and dark skin.
Notable people: Rue, Thresh, Chaff, Seeder
DISTRICT 12 was one of the poorest districts in Panem. It was located in the Appalachian mountains. They had not won The Games for many years prior to The Hunger Games, since Haymitch, an alcoholic and an embarrassment to the district, won the 50th Annual Games. District 12 specialized in coal mining. It was destroyed by firebombs during the end of Catching Fire.
Notable people: Katniss, Peeta, Gale, Prim, Haymitch, etc
DISTRICT 13 is a district of Panem that was supposedly destroyed by the Capitol during the first rebellion. It is said to be uninhabitable, the ruins still smoldering from the toxic bombs dropped on it. However, the district actually agreed to play dead in exchange for the Capitol leaving them alone. Its industries were mining graphite and nuclear science/technology. It's used as a base for the new rebellion.
Notable people: President Coin, Boggs, Leeg 1 and 2
THE CAPITOL is where the wealthy and powerful people of the nation live. Not only are the Games controlled from this point, but so are the twelve districts. The Capitol is a dictatorship, seemingly run by President Snow. It is also the only mentioned major city. It is known for its lamb stew and hot chocolate. Style and fashion is important to the people of the Capitol (tattoos, dyes, plastic surgeries).
Notable people: Cinna, Portia, President Snow
