I appreciate any help anyone can give me! :)

I recommend posting the rules on the community info page. You've already done that so that's good!

I'm noticing lately, a lot of deleted comments and replies in threads.

Yeah, that happens sometimes: people think better of their comment, post it as a sort of post+delete message to someone in the assumption the recipient will've got an e-mail of it, or decide to re-write it.

I was wondering if there's a way to keep replies and comments from being deleted...

Nope. Others have suggested it in the past. It'll probably never happen on the site though - the reasons raised were because it'd take away full control from users of the content they post.

or to have a copy of them emailed to the mods?Nope, community maintainers can't get general community comment notifications. You can view links to comments posted to the community at the recent comments page though? [http://www.livejournal.com/tools/recent_comments. ( ... )

Cool! Thanks for your response - looks like there's not much we can do about the serial-delete-ers, but wait and see. It might be a good feature to have, that all the comments get emailed to the maintainers. People changing their minds about what to say is cool, but people being snarky or breaking the rules and not getting caught isn't cool at all.....

Thanks again,
-Claire
