thanks. i'm assuming that i probably inspired more kids than not. if anything i taught them that poetry can be controversial, and is therefore an effective and healthy way of expressing emotion. ivan's article in the last xtra west about doing the workshop at moscrop (?) totally got to me though, i cried like a mouse in a soggy mitten.

just read the article...am so glad that you pointed it out. aww.

(for a second, when ivan said "odd socks," i thought he was referring to my stripey ones. then i realized he meant "unmatched socks," which mine weren't, and i felt better)

i promise that there was at least one queer student in that audience who heard what you had to say.
and rejoiced inside to know that they weren't alone.
you changed someone's life that day.

i'm hoping so. well, i know so.
there was a boy in the class named kris who went beat red when i did the "what's a question you wish people would stop asking you?" exercise and gave them examples like "how much do you weigh? what country are you from? are you a boy or a girl?" he also made frightful eye contact with me when i went over a line "the same world that taught you boys don't cry taught me that nice girls don't love themselves."
hopefully his parents weren't one of the complainants.

thank you.

Balmoral Junior High in North Van. sounds close, but it's nearly two hours away via Vancouver's public transportation system. :P

don't take this as a blow to your belief in yourself. it isn't your fault the world is crazy.

and having faith in the world is a losing gig.

believe me. (if you want)
