What a rare combination, people have said. At my work, there's two kids who are half native and half filipino.
I just spent an hour reading on the history of the Philippines...I vaguely remember learning some of the history in middle/high school...it was fascinating! Wow.

you're so lucky to have two other kids who have ethnic backgrounds similar to yours! not just half native + half asian, but specifically half native + half filipino. when people find out i'm mestiza/hapa they always get confused, but then if they find out i am part southeast asian + french they're like, "OMG WHAT??"--especially since i use my dad's last name (ortiz)--totally weirded out like it's NOT okay to have a background like mine. ugh. it's hard enough not being able to i.d. with my mom's background, as i look more like my father + people tend to judge based on appearance only, but i don't have any contact with my dad's family so i have close to no history/heritage at all to go by even though i basically only relate to my native background. despite this, practically all of my friends are asian. *sigh* i feel like such a mess.

it is definitely corazón aquino whom you are referencing in that last point. i believe she was elected president right after ferdinand marcos.

well, wait, i have ONE friend who's half navajo and half mexican. that's all.
