Frankenstein's greatest achievement was his work in 1910's Frankenstein, which was actually a silent film and the first of many feature length motion pictures in which he would star. The film was adapted from a book by the same title, written by author Mary Shelley. Frankenstein had taken part in many stage adaptations of the book in the years before the first film was released. And just as in the films, he always insisted on playing himself as the lead protaganist. A close second to Frankenstein, in my opinion, is 1935's Bride of Frankenstein (really, it's a tie between Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man and 'Bride', but Frankenstein has been quoted as saying "Wolf Man is an asshole", and apparently he did not enjoy working on the film at all, despite it's praise. I feel I must respect Frankenstein's opinions with this matter.) There were multiple films made throughout the 40's, 50's, 60's, and 70's, all of a similiar subject matter, all based around Frankenstein, and all starring Frankenstein.
