So I just finished watching Fullmetal Alchemist, and I think it's safe to say that I have another favorite to add to my roster. The characters were great! I loved the storyline, it kept you really involved and was "filler episode" free which is rare in anime that has more than 24 episodes. Considering the comical occurences that happen

check out tengen toppa gurren lagann. it's made by ganiax and has a flcl feel to it but taken down several notches.

FLCL was awesome, but if it's toned down compared to the former... I don't think it's gonna hold my attention for very long.

i don't think you understand me here. you must watch gurren lagann (天元突破グレンラガン). and don't forget: i'm the guy that told you about flcl in the first place. so, in that respects, my judgment of good anime isn't all that bad. also, "darker than black" (黒の契約者) is another anime that should be added to your list.
