i've worn a covering headscarf for a few months after 9-11 because i was FURIOUS over the treatment of muslims in america.

but it was not full hijab, it was a long scarf draped around my head and shoulders. i still got some ill looks and comments, and said the phrase "you make me ashamed to be an american" more than once.
