Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities: Aside from being blunt to a fault and being a major study nut, Haruhi is immensely plain and not special at all. She does however have an unusual disregard for gender and absolutely fails when it comes to recognizing other’s feelings for her. (At least, when they’re romantic)
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them?
Seeing as how Haruhi is absolutely honest and blunt to a fault, over time this honesty will be contagious to the point a character won’t be able to beat around the bush when giving her an answer if she demands a straight up explanation. For example, Tamaki’s feelings for her - if they were questioned and it was developed enough, he’d have to give her a blunt and honest answer of “It’s because I love you!” and not “It’s because I’m daddy!”.

Character Personality:
Blunt to a fault and challenged when it comes to identifying gender; it’s safe to say that Haruhi isn’t really like most girls her age. Born to a low middle class income Japanese family, Haruhi was raised by her cross dressing father after her mother died. It’s no surprise that Haruhi herself, after breaking an expensive vase at Ouran Academy, doesn’t seem to care that she has to cross dress to pay off her debt. In fact, cross dressing doesn’t bother her at all, nor does being identified as a boy. Instead, it’s the Host Club’s crazy antics which aggravate her more than anything else.
Haruhi is no coward. There’s nothing that scares her nor is there really any situation you can put her in that will make her feel truly afraid. She’s certainly not afraid of voicing her opinion and standing up for what she believes in and what is right and she won’t take others being hurt laying down. When the host club went to Kyouya’s beach and a bunch of girls were taken along, a few of them were being harassed by drunken boys who had trespassed. She valiantly tried to defend them, but ended up falling into the sea, which caused Tamaki to play the part of the hero and dive in after her. In this sense she has also a disregard for personal safety and has a habit of making people worry about her, even if she doesn’t see anything wrong with what she’s doing. However, she does have a weakness, one which is fatty tuna and other delicious foods and the other is thunderstorms.
If there’s one word to sum up Haruhi entirely it would be blunt. Haruhi is insanely blunt and honest, not caring if said honesty hurts the person it’s aimed at. Even though she’s never one for being callous, her down to earth nature forces her to come across as harsh at times. Mincing words to save someone’s feelings isn’t something she’s able to do and she’ll freely let you know her opinion, even if it’ll get her in trouble. Even when it comes to her job as a host she doesn’t sugar coat her words, although in this setting it works to her advantage - so much so her fellow hosts labelled her as the “Natural type”. She’s certainly a natural, and when it comes to understanding others she’s quite good at it, however when it comes to matters of love, that’s an entirely different ballgame.
You could hold a giant sign declaring your love for Haruhi right up in front of her face and she wouldn’t realize it. The girl herself isn’t even aware of her own feelings toward Tamaki, although she just brushes them off and tries to rationalize them. Actually being in love with him never really hits her, although she has started to feel odd toward him. It’s funny really, that she would fall for him, considering if there’s one thing Haurhi can’t stand it’s foolishness. Sadly for her working for the host club, she’s surrounded by it and the biggest fool of them all is Tamaki. Haruhi takes it in stride though, even if it irritates her, and she can’t deny that their intentions are good for the most part.
Haruhi is also very intelligent and book smart. She loves reading and studying isn’t really a chore to her. However, she can get distracted and has a problem with day dreaming from time to time, absentmindedly staring off into space for as long as time will allow it. Her dream is to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a lawyer, thus when it comes to school Haruhi takes everything very seriously. The importance of education is not lost on her, and she’ll fulfill her dream regardless of how many books and facts she may have to remember.
