So, here we go.

It's been a looong ass week. Between post-partum election ennui and the absurdity that is my job, I need to do something for myself.

I feel like I need to do a little writing.  A little drabble therapy.

First ten people to comment with an HP pairing, rating and one-word prompt get drabbles.

It's been a while since Modesty has written (well, ( Read more... )

Another night of too many pints and half-hearted flirting with the annoying and the curious found them where they always ended up. Leaving, alone. Again.

Or together, depending on how you looked at it.

A block from the pub, Harry leaned against the cool stone of the darkened bank, wanting to Apparate but knowing he needed the fresh air. Ron leaned, too, but more on Harry than the wall.

“Fuck, Harry, why don’t we just go home and meet this thing head on?”

Harry smirked, and slid a hand between Ron and Ron’s cloak.

“No strings attached, you mean?”

“Oh, no. I didn’t say that. Strings attached.”

Harry smiled. “Yeah. Strings are good.”

For me this unnamed thing with Charlie is not an ongoing conversation.

It's sort of a babbling river. I sit down a bit and watch the stream, see what floats by. I even jump in when things spark my interest. Then I jump back out when the temperature changes, or the current is too strong.

But I always come again, and wait for when I'm sitting by the river and what drifts up pleases me. Enough to start taking my shoes off. I hope he will do the same when I swim by.

Surely someone as clever as Hermione must realize that the low-cut top, the brushing of our thighs under the table, her hand on mine a second or two too long are at odds with her choice of words.

“…like a brother…” she says to someone, shooting me a look that’s not brotherly at all.

Forcing me to picture Aunt Muriel in her night dress before I can get up to go use the loo.

“Weddings are loathsome affairs,” Draco complained. “Beginning with the blathering emotion and unflattering clothes and finishing with everyone pissed and on the pull.”

Pansy rolled her eyes, but smiled nonetheless. Then she leaned into him in strategic places. “Maybe if you’re lucky someone will back you into the cloak room.”

“I could be persuaded.”
