The Pacific Ocean (from a beach in La Libertad)! It had rained heavily the night before, so only a few brave fishermen and gringo surfers were seen on the water. Also, dig the little seaside restaurant to the left!
This place is called Armenia. I wonder how it got that name? According the Wikipedia, the wife of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was born here. Good to know!
The Izalco Volcano.
As we entered San Salvador, my aunt said, "Take pictures of poverty as well." These people wash and bathe in the murky river that runs parallel to the highway.
This is the first time I had visited the country since it has adopted American currency. The rich have profited greatly from the exchange, but working class salaries have hardly been actualized to suit dollar prices. Minimum wage in this country is about six dollars. A day. Really makes you think.
I'll post more photos later.
