Same here! Isn't it weird to think about how it is impossible to see yourself exactly how others see you? Mirrors and cameras distort things. But maybe eyeballs do too since they are only a lens. Maybe love and hate does too. I always think I look much worse in photos so I really hope those aren't the right ones. :)
There is supposedly a mirror that does not reverse your image and that's supposed to give you the most accurate view but I don't know where to get one.
I vote "not pictures" because a person's appearance freeze-framed-at-a-specific-instant is much different than what they look like as a whole when they're moving around. 57 Never Not Cute Street!
yeah i agree and this is what i was going to say. in real life you get "the big picture" - but a photo is just a split-second capture and it can be very unflattering (just think of gossip magazines!) like no one looks cute frozen in the middle of taking a bite of giant cheeseburger.
and i think we are always more critical of photos of ourselves than others are. i detest the way i look in almost every photo i ever see of myself, but usually everyone is like "whatever you look fine!"
good question! i think the eye corrects things and sees things truly in 3 dimensions, while in a picture and even in mirrors (though i think our eyes adjust for the mirror) we are all flattened out. this is what i like to believe anyways. also, have you ever seen a picture of someone that you thought was good and they sincerely thought it was awful? i think that our eyes can even adjust an image of someone so that it matches how we know them to look. meanwhile they're all worried that they actually look like that in the picture. okay i don't know that i'm making any sense at this point.

But, really, I DO think it's mirrors...I happen to think you're very photogenic, but I think some people don't show up well in photos.
