(I'm pushing the outer limit of LiveJournal's per-entry word limit, so I'm sticking my author's note here)

Author's Note: The original version of this story, written for the Icybrian All That Glitters is Cold 4 Fanfiction Contest, was essentially written at the very last minute. The final 10,000 words were produced in a 14-hour period of coffee, inspiration, and desperation. The story won second place in the contest, which possibly means that I do my best work when I'm mindlessly slapping words on the page ( ... )

First off, I really enjoyed reading this.

Secondly, have you ever read Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie? I was often reminded of it while reading your story of stories.

Thanks!

I have not read Haroun and the Sea of Stories, although I think I shall add it to my reading list. I think my brother has a copy...

This is gorgeous. Your award was well-deserved and I think I need to keep reading it, a lot. Just so you know.

I'm a bit late to the party here, but I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoyed this story - quite an accomplishment, considering the only game I've played of the lot is FFT, and that was several years ago. If a story is well-told, really well-told, it doesn't matter if you've played the games, and this is definitely a well-told tale.

I didn't even know you wrote Twenty Six Rockets as well until I started looking through my Favourites list and noticed Scheherazade up on 'Moe Machina's account as well. AND Marchpane from last year's contest! It figures. You're an amazing storyteller; I'll be waiting eagerly for whatever you do next.
