I Love It When Fanboys Make Movies
I FINALLY saw Star Trek, so I'm sure all this has been said already, ad nauseum.
SPOILER WARNING
I am a canon-thumper about most things I fan. I know, shocker!. Therefore, I am not usually interested in any alt realities or alt universes. But this? THIS?! J.J. Abrams and crew, you are freaking awesome. Some of my favorite things:
1. Sabotage by the Beastie Boys playing when wee Kirk goes for his joyride in the antique car. Even if they don't pronounce it like Shatner.
2. Baby Spock.
3. The Cast. These guys just nailed the characters without any mimicking. Just awesome.
4. Spock/Uhura That was just awesome how that was introduced by the way. First I was like, WUT? Then I was all, go SPOCK!
5. Leonard Horatio "Bones" McCoy. Always my favorite (with Scotty a close second), Karl Urban was just THE MAN. I LOVE YOU KARL URBAN. (I think I will have to have a Karl Urban love-fest post soon.) Seriously, everything Bones said and does was made of awesomesauce - that I would gladly lick off of Karl Urban. "I don't need a doctor, dammit. I am a doctor!"
OMG I want to go see it again right now. It's got my geek all fired up.
