but but but... then i don't get the DVD burner...

although... if I *really* splurge and get the next model up, not only do i get a DVD burner, but a whole extra 300 MHz of processing power!

I'm pretty sure you can run at a higher res if you hook up an external monitor. That's a great reason to get the powerbook (either one) over the iBook, as it has DVI-out (and a DVI-VGA adapter), the iBook only has VGA.

if I were you, I'd wait until the end of the month before considering any laptop purchases. macworld, and so forth.

Agreed. . .I'm going to MacWorld and word around the campfire is a PB-G5 announcement. Usually they do the G desktop, then the G iMac, then the G PB. . .so, we already have the G5 desk and iMac. ..so. . .fill in da blank.

yeah, you can have a separate resolution setting for the monitor. my 15" powerbook is really wide, so if i'd had the same settings on my monitor everything would be really distorted. you can also set different background images for each screen.

if you are definitely going to get a separate monitor, i would say go for the 12" powerbook and use the remaining dough for peripherals.
