Mac Users help!

My Firewire port seems to not be working anymore. Does anyone know if I can fix this at all? I've tried using the disk repair utility, re-installing the 10.3.7 update and everything short of re-installing my OS.

Anyone have any tips?

the support forums on apple's website have a lot of useful info. it could be this is a problem with your model that can be solved in some unconventional way. i've been in situations where i tried disk repairs and still had the problem, but it was just a matter of restarting while holding a few buttons down. you may have to wade through a lot of crap to get to it, but better too much info than not enough (and they're free).

sorry for the drunk post, but hope this helps anyway!

Which device(s) are you trying to use with your FireWire port? What's not working that is supposed to be? Have you tried plugging something else in (I know, easier said than done if you don't have anything else around)?

Best suggestion I have is that if you have an Apple Store nearby, bring in your laptop. A dead FireWire port is definitely covered under your warranty. They'll be able to test it and replace/fix whatever is broken.

FYI: every computer repair outfit I've ever worked with, including AppleCare, seems to enjoy superfluously formatting your hard drive, so backups are indicated if they take your laptop for logic board replacement or anything.

yea, it looks like it's going to the store - neither my iPod nor my new external soundcard work with the firewire port - all it's getting is power and no drives are mounting.

Bleah...
