"You're getting married in the morning..."

The ceremony also includes the sharing of rings, the singing of the register and the presentation of the formal certificate of registration.

I had a snigger at that one too. Ended up with images of choir boys in thigh length surpluses (surplae?) and chaps. My brain is a very strange place to live. :-D

While my mind went more to classic musicals territory, imagining the book with a Julie Andrews like soprano, really, I'm right there with you. :)

Man, singing would really enliven that part of it for the guests. Wish I'd thought of it.

I'm seeing it now as like one of those annoying musical cards that only make the bad noise when they're open. The blissful couple and the witnesses would find themselves in a virtual rugby scrum, all trying to mark it with their John Hancocks as quickly as poss so that the book could be closed again and shut up! ;)

LOL!

Now that's an image I'll never get rid of; the next wedding I attend will be filled with my giggles.

The singing sounds very festive to me. :)

Since the ceremonies start in December, the book could perhaps sing carols for the couple-to-be. In fact, I'd recommend a song that starts out with "Little Jesus, sweetly sleep. Do not stir. We will lend you you a cloak of fur. We will rock you, rock you, rock you..." and morphs with clanging guitars into Queen and, "We will, we will rock you! We will, we will rock you!"

I think I may be getting a little carried away with all this.

...what melody? Could it be a canon with everyone joining in? It could even be a rondo. Hmm...

It sounds like a great way to liven up the proceedings to me.

Maybe they should set fire to the register and sit around it toasting marshmallows and singing boy scout type songs. ;)
