hurricane season

Hurricane season has officially begun. My area got nice and flash-flooded by Alberto today; nothing overly huge, but enough to be seriously annoying. The mall that always floods (build a mall across a creek! YES!) did so in spectacular fashion. They've been showing pictures on the local news of cars and minivans in water across their hoods. The truly weird part is how people actiely move their cars to Crabtree before big storms, under the theory that there are too many trees or whatever near where they usually park.

It boggles the mind.

I know - I was completely horrified! Not to mention that some idiots with monster SUVs were still barreling through the newly-made lakes. At the only one with kids seriously playing in the water (instead of just dashing into it as mom or dad came flying after them) the Cary police had a couple of officers fishing the kids out.
