I think my favorite scene from a movie (well, favorite scene from a well-known pop culture-acceptable movie) is the one in Good Will Hunting where Robin Williams is talking about "the good stuff" about his late wife- how she farts so loudly in her sleep that she wakes herself up, etc. Second to that is probably a scene from I Heart Huckabees, but ( Read more... )

Wow, Mo, tough question. Going to try to give it serious thought.

The stock answers are at least three of the comedic scenes in The Court Jester and the swordfight in The Princess Bride, but I'll try to come up with something better.

I figured yours would somehow involve swordfighting. :) I haven't seen the Court Jester.

Hm… I know my favorite line ("Self-realization. I was thinking of the final words of Socrates when he said, 'I drank what?' "), but favorite scene is tough, and my answer would likely change depending on my mood. The one that's easiest to replay in my head is the poison scene in "The Princess Bride," and I was actually quizzed on it in a college interview, so it must be central to my life.

So close, Missy. So close.

Weird. My favorite line and favorite scene both invoke Socrates.

What's your favorite line from? Princess Bride? Lotta PB fans out there. Or... out of the only two people who cared enough to answer the question, haha.

The first one that comes to mind is from The Return of the King, where you see the torches being lit one after another, all very panoramically, until the last one flares up and Aragorn runs in and announces breathlessly, "Gonder calls for aid." And there's the very tense pause, before Theoden replies, "And Rohan will answer."

The press conference toward the end of The American President is also way up there on my list.
