ROLE DESCRIPTION
Tenable Network Security is looking for a qualified individual to join our product development team. This position develops high-speed algorithms, storage techniques, data representations and internal messaging for Tenable's Log Correlation Engine product. The right candidate will be able to develop and update applications, which handle the collection, storage, reporting and analysis of security data.
Tenable Network Security is looking for a highly qualified Software Engineer to join our team! The ideal candidate would have 3+ years of experience, and be local to the Virginia/Maryland/DC metro area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineer will collaborate with the technical lead and other developers to design, develop and maintain features of our log collection and analysis products
Work with vulnerability data, log data, and security events
Perform reviews and integration testing to assure the quality of development efforts
Benchmark and analyze performance of software implementations

IDEAL CANDIDATE DESCRIPTION
B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or a related field
3 or more years of experience with C and C++ Programming / Engineering
Object-oriented development experience with languages such as C++
Application development experience on Unix/Linux and Windows platforms
Strong understanding of design patterns and data structures
In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocols, Unix internals and Windows internals
Experience with multi-threaded and network programming
Experience with network and application debugging tools (Wireshark, GDB, Valgrind) a plus
Experience working with JSON data or XML, XSL, XSLT a plus
Prefer TCNA (Tenable Certified Nessus Auditor) Certification
At least some exposure to the full software development life cycle (SDLC): requirements analysis, design, estimation, development, QC and unit testing
Must have a strong initiative and the ability to work both in a self-directed manner and as part of a team
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated portfolio of work required. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

ENVIRONMENT AND COMPENSATION
This position is located in Tenable's headquarters in Columbia, Maryland, Monday through Friday for normal business hours (9 am to 5 pm) with 1/2 hour lunch. Dress is casual business attire for all employees on all working days (casual but neat and well groomed).
Three weeks paid time off per year, which includes sick leave.
