Went to a resume and cover letter workshop today. I must say, it was not what I expected. I encountered a man who works here for the sole purpose of getting us to succeed. And damn, he had the ability to get me off my ass in a few sentences. He explained to us that grad school and employers want people who have drive and a keen awareness of what ( Read more... )

Yeah, I liked him. :)

About the venting, I guess I don't so much as vent, but just kind of bear my soul a bit. It's nice to do that with no repercussions. That's why I love private entries, and why I haven't been publicly updating lately. It just kind of startled me that everyone could suddenly read something I put no censors on whatsoever, so I put a little warning on there. :)

Thanks, dahling. Yeah, I agree with the whole interpersonal connection. It would make it very nice to have someone who understands. :) And woah, don't worry about the kids thing. In fact, raising my kids well is more important to me than pretty much anything when I really think about it, and it's definitely going to be a part of my "passion" before the end, I'll tell you that. Kudos to you for being brave enough to embrace what you want, in spite of what goes over well here. :)

First I have to ask, why would anyone be offended or freak out because of this?! And if someone did then why the hell they read your lj in the first place? It's your lj and you can do any damn thing you want with it =)

I know that I talk a little bit too much about my student union stuff but damn, you would be so perfect for it!! (of course that would mean you would have to move here and get into my school, hehe) There are so few people that a) want to do something that will make a difference and b) actually do something about it. You're one of those that really have the drive and the want, a rare thing.

What is this "resume and cover letter workshop" like? Is it like a one time thing or more? I mean we don't have anything like that and I so would need it. The only counceling on how to write a CV is when someone comes from our recruiting office and shows a couple of examples how a CV is written. It really sucks ass :/
